GotWind’s Orange Wind Charger Glastonbury Festival Renewable Energy Mobile Phone Charging Station photo
Posted on: June 29, 2008

Orange have a freestanding wind powered mobile phone charging station, giving Glastonbury revellers no excuse not to keep in touch with their friends, relay their favourite stories from the festival and of course ask the inevitable question – ‘where are you?’
More to the point, this set-up designed by GotWind uses both wind and solar to produce energy to charge mobile phones. The station has 56 lockers, ergo 56 phones can be recharging simultaneously, and it takes about 45 minutes to recharge a handset. So about 80 phones an hour are getting re-upped by renewables. The lockers keep those less scrupulous than yourself from walking of with your phone.
